Help

1. Converting TIFF Image Files to JPEG FILES

a. If you are using PDQUest go to FILE menu on the TOP right.
b. Go Export->Export to TIFF IMAGE
c. Select Export view excluding overlays
d. Increase dpi to 150
e. Transform to Linear
f. select bit depth 16bit
g. Select Export at the bottom and it will ask you the location where you want to store the file.

h. Open Adobe Photoshop,and open the File menu
i. Select image->adjustment->auto levels.
j. select image->adjustment->auto contrast.
k. select file->save as web-> select jpeg file format-> save.

2. Uploading 2D GEL Images
In order to UPLOAD IMAGES you should be logged in.
a. Click on tha admin icon on the TOP RIGHT.
b. Enter USER NAME and PASSWORD
c. If you dont know or have forgotten the "Userid" or "Password" then send an email to igerling@uthsc.edu.
d.Once you are logged in, you will see a DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR PAGE, you will see a hyperlink to "INPUT GEL".
e. CLick on the TISSUE for which you wan to enter information. For eg. If you want to enter gel for "Pituitary" click on "Input GEL" in the same row as of Pituitary.
f. Once you had clicked on the Input Gel it opens a new form where you can enter all the information.
g. Make sure Images are in "JPEG" format only.It wont accept anyother Format.
g.Please do not enter the transcriptome information if you do not have one.
h. Press Submit.
If there is no error it will say "your data has been saved".
You can click on the gels on the Top Right, and then on the tissue at Left on the Gels category to see your Gel.

3. Uploading Protein Informtion For an Already Uploaded Gel
It is very easy to upload Protein information for the Gels already UPLOADED. Please make sure you are Logged in, if not go to the ADMIN icon on the top right. Click it and enter User id and Password.
a. Selct the tissue from the "Category Name". For eg. Islet from Mouse.
b. Click on the gel on the Images Preview for which you want to enter the information.
c. If you have uploade Marked image, click on the Marked Iamge on the TOP LEFT
d. Click on the Spot of the Gel Iamge for which you want to enter Information.
e.you will see new page with hyperlink "Input the Information of this Spot".
f. Click on the hyperlink a new form opens and you can upload the information by filling the form and submitting it.

4. Modifying Gel Image Information

Once you are logged in.
Open the GEL Image by clickin on the GELS on th TOP right and then selcting the tissue from the GEL CATEGORY.
CLick on the Gel for which you want to modify data.
Once the Gel Image is Loaded on your screen, you will see a MODIFY ICON on the TOP.
Click on the modify hyperlink, and a form will open where you can MODIFY gel information.

5. Modifying Protein Information

Once you are logged in
click on the gels and then on the protein on the gel for which you want to modify
Already uploaded information will appear and on the bottom a modify hyperlink will appear.
Click on the link and you will be able to modify the content of that protein.
follow the instruction and refresh the page before viewing that protein again.
